Kickstarter video for Elecjet graphene powerbank

We occasionally get asked to do Kickstarter or crowd-funding videos for new products. One example is the Elecjet graphene powerbank, made by a company called Apollo, based in Shenzhen, China. They wanted to create a crowd-funding pre-order video for a powerbank product, that could also be edited into shorter, commercial grade videos for social media and Amazon promotion in the future. We needed to create some basic scenarios that allowed us to showcase the advantages of this powerbank over other similar products, but done in a sophisticated and polished way that could help branding, and not just show pros and cons, like shopping network content. The project included script development, actor casting, video shooting, editing and postproduction, as well as some 3D animation.

The preproduction was relatively straightforward. The client told us their target demographic, the key features and advantages of their product, the requirements of the media the video was intended for, and their budget. We came back with an actionable plan, model recommendations, and stylistic references.

It was a relatively low budget commercial, so we had to find some creative ways to stretch our money, and shoot 4 different locations in one day. We used a subway station as an airport, and faked a poolside location in an apartment. The client understood they had to have realistic expectations for the airport and outdoor pool locations, especially due to the uncertain weather conditions and budget.
